Daniel Egnéus

28 October 2011

Daniel Egnéus is a self-taught artist, who has created award-winning work for clients such as Haagen-Dasz, BMW, Nike, Swarovski, Penguin Books, and Audi. Recently, he published a gothic interpretation of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ for Harper Collins, based on the classic Brothers Grimm fairytale.

Born in Sweden, Daniel has lived in Prague, London, Berlin, Bologna, and Rome. He now resides in Milan, where he works in a seventeenth-century studio on a canal, designed by Leonardo da Vinci. Finding inspiration in [what is clearly] a rich life experience, he masterfully juxtaposes loose swashes of color with intricate line work, to create effortlessly bewitching and elegant images.

I am so fascinated by the combination of his line work and the dream like quality of his color. So pretty. A few of his pieces remind me a bit of one of my favorite artists – Egon Schiele. [...]
