HypeForType – up

14 June 2009

HypeForType is up and going. Started by Alex Haigh, HFT is a “type foundry showcasing the best in today’s typographic talent, as well as providing a platform for keen eyed creatives to find and buy truly unique, hand-crafted fonts to complement their work.”

just checked out the new site, and while i found it very simple to navigate, I wasn’t impressed with the overall design and colors. it just felt like a rush job, and surely they could have designed a better HYPEFORTYPE logotype! while they have a handful of very talented designers, many of the typefaces are novel and seem to appeal to trends and lack a classic aesthetic. really, all they’re banking off of are the names of these known designers and not the typefaces themselves. maybe i’m just critical because my bar has been set with amazing foundries like H&FJ. would like to know what others think.
