Designer/director Karim Zariffa was recently tasked with a restaurant redesign, something he’s never done before. The project included a host of elements, including repurposed furniture, custom fixtures and a wild mirror installation in the bathroom. The results are amazing.

ODLCO

28 September 2011

ODLCO, formerly known as The Object Design League, is making object design in Chicago exciting. Cofounded by Caroline Linder and Lisa Smith, ODLCO has an impressive backlog of projects and events. Never dull or clinical, the approach is something that comes from a genuine fascination of objects and their context in the world. A perfect example is the wonderfully engaging and surprising “Balloon Factory” , installed at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago back in July.

Their latest product (and the first under the new ODLCO banner) is a cast iron cooking pot by designer Gabriel Hargrove. Check out the Kickstarter –– this one will go fast!

Language: bilingual German/English

Publisher: Gestalten
Release: January 2010

In over 40 years at Braun, Dieter Rams established himself as one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. His elegantly clear visual language not only defined product design for decades, but also our fundamental understanding of what design is and what it can and should do. Elucidating the design philosophy of Dieter Rams, Less and More is the ultimate collection of images of all of Rams’s products as well as selected sketches and models. In addition to the complete visual presentation of his designs, new texts by international experts reevaluate his work in a contemporary context.

Ferrari 458 Italia

29 July 2009

We don’t regularly post about cars here on TSA, but seeing as how Ferrari just revealed their latest model, and it’s exceptionally beautiful, I figured it deserved a mention. This is the 458 Italia (replacing the F430), designed by Pininfarina, interior by Donato Coco. The car is set to be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show later this year. If I was 13 again, this thing would definitely be on my wall…
