“The virtual communities created by online games have provided us with a new medium for social interaction and communication. Avatar Machine is a system which replicates the aesthetics and visuals of third person gaming, allowing the user to view themselves as a virtual character in real space via a head mounted interface. The system potentially allows for a diminished sense of social responsibility, and could lead the user to demonstrate behaviors normally reserved for the gaming environment.”

Andy Ness received his BFA in sculpture from Pratt Institute and his MFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has been awarded residencies at The Vermont Studio Center, The MacDowell Colony, and Denniston Hill. Most recently, he was awarded a second year fellowship at the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center. He has taught at the Rhode Island School of Design and with Studio In A School in New York City. Andy lives in Harlem, on the island of Manhattan.

Cedric “Honet”, born in 1972, lives and works in Paris, France. When he’s not working for Prada or showing his paintings in the Speerstra Gallery, he practices graffiti as an act with “symbolic” nature, a day to day action. He joins a gothic illustration style, inspired mostly by his life, with a romantic exploration of abandoned, forgotten and hidden places.

Takashi Iwasaki was born in Japan, 1982. He lives and works in Manitoba.

Their commercial work for hire division, appropriately named FWYstudios, has developed the image and identity of some of the world’s most prominent brands, such as Nike, MTV, Red Bull, Target, Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers, and Coca-Cola. Their extensive portfolio includes campaign strategy, animation & directorial services, branding and licensing, character design, illustration, print design, product design, packaging & POS, online integration, web and new media.

From fine art to large-scale experiential installations, interactive events, public playgrounds, live performances, animation and multimedia projects, FriendsWithYou has participated in some of the most respected art happenings around the world, including Pictoplasma in Berlin, and Art Basel Miami. They have also exhibited and/or been included in the permanent collections of Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA), Haus der Kulturen der Welt Museum Berlin, and Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, amongst others.

The subject matter of Ryu Itadani‘s latest painting is the iconic Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneaker. Onitsuka Tiger have produced a short documentary about the project and have asked us to help promote the artwork, which will be exhibited across Europe.
