Mike is a great friend and mentor to me. He’s constantly working on something, always moving from one thing to the next, truly prolific.
Check out his work, especially those Ghostly International sleeves.

I’m kind of exited about the new group Them Crooked Vultures. Band consists of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl (drums), Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme (guitar), and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones (bass and keyboards). You can’t get your hands on any music yet, with the exception of some cellphone video from a show in Chicago, and as far as I can tell you can’t see where or when they’ll be playing next. Quite mysterious. I think these guys have potential though (despite “super group” reputation), sounds like they rock pretty good.
DJ/producer and more recently fashion designer, Ellen Allien, seems very busy traveling, playing and creating. As a popular and well respected performer, Ellen draws inspiration from the many cities she visits, resulting in her own fashion line under the same name. She recently launched her 2009 winter collection, featuring some rather understated splashes of color and graphics, mixed with interesting arrangements of denim. I’ve enjoyed her many releases, in particular her collaboration with Apparat and her mix for Fabric. It’s great to see artists that make that disciplinary cross-over of music and design, and often interesting to see how one influences the other.
