Toilet Paper Magazine

28 September 2011

Toiletpaper Magazine is a new collaboration between artist Maurizio Cattelan and photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari, both of whom live and work between Milan and New York City. It is a “new generation magazine that combines commercial photography, twisted narratives and surrealistic imaginary to create a series of powerful visual tableaux”.

I’m also loving the amazing, italian music legend Lorenzo “Jovanotti” Cherubini (one of my personal favorites) in several of their videos.

We got a message from our friend Kim Høltermand yesterday letting us know about a new project he’s involved in called Outliers, Vol. I: Iceland

This October, with the help of the Kickstarter community, a small group of filmmakers, photographers and musicians are setting out on a journey to explore the remote countryside of Iceland and document our experiences with the landscape, residents and traditions we encounter. The end result, a beautifully packaged box set of the film and companion soundtrack, will be released to backers of the project as a physical artifact of the unique and awe-inspiring experience. We can’t wait to share the results with you.

See the teaser, read more about it, and help fund the project here.

Avatar Machine

20 July 2011

Avatar Machine [LONDON] 2008 from MARC OWENS on Vimeo.

“The virtual communities created by online games have provided us with a new medium for social interaction and communication. Avatar Machine is a system which replicates the aesthetics and visuals of third person gaming, allowing the user to view themselves as a virtual character in real space via a head mounted interface. The system potentially allows for a diminished sense of social responsibility, and could lead the user to demonstrate behaviors normally reserved for the gaming environment.”

The subject matter of Ryu Itadani‘s latest painting is the iconic Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneaker. Onitsuka Tiger have produced a short documentary about the project and have asked us to help promote the artwork, which will be exhibited across Europe.

Bradley G Munkowitz, AKA Gmunk, has reemerged after spending all of 2010 directing a small team of motion designers to concept/design/execute 12 minutes of holographic content for TRON: Legacy. His work never fails to amaze, and the new site is chock-full.
