New blog, painfully accurate.

Apparently Warner Bros isn’t happy with Spike Jonze’s initial production of Where The Wild Things Are. The movie is reportedly being reshot and has been pushed back 20 months from it’s original release date.

“Sources tell me that the suits at Legendary and Warner Bros are not happy with Max Records, the actor playing Max, the mischievous boy who is crowned King of the Wild Things. Worse than that, they don’t like the film’s tone and want to go back to the script drawing board, possibly losing the Spike Jonze/Dave Eggers script when they do it. Apparently the film is too weird and ‘too scary,’ and the character of Max is being seen as not likable…” Read more.

Did the bigwigs at WB ever think to rent a Spike Jonze flick prior to hiring him for this project? They should have let it through… I’m sure it would have sold just fine with the older crowds who actually grew up with the book.
